Meeting this Wednesday
I know, I've been slack, but the next meeting is this Wednesday. As that message indicated, those of us who raised our hands for OpenSolaris merchandise (T-shirts) may be able to collect it this week.

Next Meeting
Since nobody else has posted a reminder and I was already posting one in the usual location (http://www2.purplecow.org/?p=123), I'll post a reminder here:

Just a reminder that the next meeting of MSOSUG, the Melbourne Solaris / OpenSolaris User Group is coming up, Wednesday, March 19th.

Usual time and place - 6pm, Level 7, 476 St Kilda Road, Melbourne.

This time Richard Smith will be talking about Solaris Performance Counter Observation - Richard is one clued in guy about performance tuning, so this alone makes it well worth the visit. In addition, Richard Spindler will be discussing troubleshooting Jump Start - should be a lively and interactive session there.

Melbourne Solaris / OpenSolaris Users Group - Call to Meeting - 18:00, Wednesday December 19th.
From the MSOSUG mailing list, Nathan has said:

Greetings all -

We are rapidly approaching the next meeting!

Last month, most folks indicated that they would be interested in a meeting on the 19th of December, so we are progressing with the assumption that we will indeed run on the 19th.

Please respond in the positive OR negative ASAP. If we get a *lot* of folks who won't be able to make the meeting, we might push to January.

Where?
Level 7, 476 St Kilda Road, Melbourne,

When?
Wednesday, December 19th, 2007 at 18:00 for general discussion.

Speakers start at 18:30 sharp, with Pizza arriving somewhere around 20:00ish.

Speakers / Topics will be:
- Nathan Kroenert
-- Xen on Solaris Nevada - An overview of X86 Virtualization on Solaris. A Real presentation on a Real box and real HVM DomU's. Or something that's virtually something like that. ;)

- Andre van Eyssen
-- SSGD for the masses: A review of the SSGD capabilities, including windows application deployments.

- Atul Vidwansa
-- Lustre - The HPC filesystem (and more). An overview of the technology and a look at where things are going in the future.

Soft drink, coffee/tea and Pizza will be available. (YES - FOOD.)

**If you plan to attend, please reply NOW to nathan at sun.com so that we can plan for seating / pizza / drinks!**

To anyone who meets with or talks to folks interested in Solaris: Please let everyone know about the meeting, the time and the date. We had a great first meeting, and would love to continue to grow the group.

A note on access: The Lifts in the building and entrance to Level 7 automatically lock early in the evening, so access will be provided by Sun folks on-site. A sign will also be placed close to the ground floor lifts with a contact number, should you arrive after the start of the meeting.

If you are interested in Solaris, doing interesting things with, or on Solaris, we want YOU!

See our opensolaris project page:

Hope to see many of you there, and if you are not yet on the alias
